Essen (German for Eating)

Let me just start with the statement ‘I love good food!’  We’ve been lucky enough to have opportunities to do a bit of travel and we always make a point to sample the local cuisine and I truly enjoy it.  I also enjoy cooking and reclaimed an old love this summer – gardening. So this section will be all about food.

I’m very interested in how food is produced, especially when I have to consume it.  A little back-story: my parents were into organic food way before it became a buzzword; so I’ve had 30+ years experience growing, cooking, and eating healthily.  Natural whole grains, natural sweeteners (I’m talking brown sugar, molasses, honey, and agave syrups here folks), and organic meat that we butchered ourselves were a part of my daily life as a child.  Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy chips, fried foods, and all the other yummies just as much as the next person – I did say good food, not boring food, didn’t I? 🙂

Anyway, to make a long story short, this section will follow my gardening and cooking exploits as well as showcase some of the amazing local cuisine I come across.

Malzeit (German statement said before eating which loosely translates into ‘enjoy your food’)!
